That name evokes sweaty black athletes that are far too tall for their own good, as far as sheer walking goes; or, perhaps, it gets mistaken for Hershey's - by those with an out-of-control sweet tooth... in advance state of decay, far beyond any dentist's ability to help, certainly...! But we are digressing - right off the bat, again?!? Today is the birthday of one of the world's most historically significant astronomer - her name is Herschel. Caroline Herschel. She is the first woman in recorded history to have assuredly identified a comet (a dozen comets, over time, actually) for the burgeoning science of astronomy! You may have seen her name on one of those comets that, quite periodically, dashes through the starry skies above - not as spectacular as Haley's, it can even be eclipsed by some asteroids - and yet... It is enduring; you can't take that away from it! For it is still out there... (However, it was last seen in 1939 - the year of birth of... Superman...
