Justice is improving, being meted out in a harsher way to those who deserve it too, in the country where, a relatively short time ago (what's 60-65 years in human history? Peanuts...) dementia and lunacy overtook an entire nation (or a good portion of it) and possessed the collective psyche enough to have them commit such atrocities... All in the name of the imaginary "master race"...!
I should apologize for the very condensed -very spontaneous too- luminous history lesson...
But I will not! ;)
Suffice it to say - if Joan of Ark got the stake, 576 years ago today...
Surely Mounir el Motassadeq deserves to get 15 years in prison...
And to be decked all along the way...
I know - easy one to say...
Or type, really...
Sue me, willya? ;)

HAMBURG, Germany, Jan. 9 (UPI) --
Convicted Sept. 11 plotter Mounir el Motassadeq had his prison sentence doubled to 15 years Tuesday by a German court.
Motassadeq had been found guilty of belonging to a terrorist organization and abetting the killing of 246 people who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, hijacking of one of the airliners flown into New York's World Trade Center.
The Moroccan national was linked to Mohammad Atta, known to be among the al-Qaeda hijacking team, while attending college in Hamburg, Germany. He was accused of allowing his bank account to be used as a repository for funds for a Hamburg al-Qaeda cell.
Motassadeq stood trial three times before becoming the first defendant convicted in the Sept. 11 attacks, Deutsche Welle said. He was originally sentenced to seven years behind bars.

Joan of Arc Goes on Trial (1431)
Joan of Arc was a French military leader and heroine who was canonized in 1920. Inspired and directed by religious visions, she organized the French resistance that forced the English to end their siege of Orléans in 1429. The same year she led an army of 12,000 to Rheims and had the dauphin crowned Charles VII. Captured and sold to the English by the Burgundians, she was later tried for heresy and sorcery and was burned at the stake.

Thank you historybuff - but unless there was some doubt on your mind, the tone on my original post here was indicative of that already! I even dared assumed that ALL my readers would know that and know already how much of a huge conspiracy Joan of Ark was the victim of.
That is my point: if she got the book thrown at her, PLEASE do so with a few creeps today too - TRULY GUILTY PARTIES, as opposed to the innocent Joan...
Innocents tend to get the book thrown at them more often though, or so it would seem; such things I routinely criticize wherever my writing can be found.
If such an erudite man as yourself failed to see the IRONY I was going for and underlining here (evident from the very get-go, with the date of the beginning of her trial coinciding with the announcement concerning a 9/11 co-plotter's sentence being prolonged) - I shall take that as my cue as to NEVER again take anything for granted in my readership; less is not always MORE and an extra paragraph or two sometimes does a WORLD of a difference...
Like... NOW!
And, on a sidenote...
"Maiden of Heaven" seems like the PERFECT title to be bestowed upon Joan, INDEED...
Thanks for stopping by, historybuff!
p.s. I thought at first that your comment was more spam, like that which plagues Blogger oftentimes - glad to see it isn't, this time...!
Maybe anti-violence advocates are as eagle-eyed as history buffs?
Doesn't surprise me!
